Charlotte, N.C.– Medical Manufacturing Technologies (MMT) has acquired Comco, a long-established leader in micro-precision sandblasting, in a move aimed at strengthening MMT’s capabilities in abrasive technologies and microblasting for medical device manufacturing and other high-precision industries.

Founded in 1965, Comco is known for its MicroBlaster® system, which delivers tightly controlled streams of abrasive particles for cleaning, texturing, and modifying small, delicate surfaces. The technique is used across medical manufacturing, aerospace, microelectronics, and precision machining, offering high repeatability with minimal environmental impact.

MMT, backed by Arcline Investment Management, provides automated manufacturing solutions to the medical device sector. The acquisition is part of its broader strategy to expand end-to-end capabilities for clients developing intricate components that demand exacting standards in both materials and finishes.

“Comco’s expertise in microblasting adds a powerful dimension to our platform,” said MMT CEO Robbie Atkinson. “Their reputation for quality and innovation aligns with our focus on delivering reliable, scalable solutions that help our customers succeed.”

Comco President Colin Weightman will stay on with MMT as Technical Sales Director, helping to integrate Comco’s technologies into MMT’s global portfolio and support the expansion of abrasive processing offerings.

The acquisition also brings Comco’s proprietary technologies and decades of experience into MMT’s growing group of specialized companies, which now includes more than a dozen manufacturing firms focused on catheter production, automation, and component engineering.

With this latest deal, MMT aims to bolster its position as a comprehensive provider of precision manufacturing technologies across medical and specialized industrial markets.
