Geneva– Medimaps Group has announced the European launch of its next-generation TBS Osteo Advanced software, a significant step forward in bone health technology aimed at improving fracture risk detection in patients with osteoporosis. The software, recently launched in the United States, is now available to healthcare providers across Europe, reinforcing Medimaps’ position as a global leader in AI-driven bone microarchitecture imaging solutions.

The new TBS Osteo Advanced software delivers enhanced capabilities for assessing bone microarchitecture, an important factor in diagnosing osteoporosis and predicting fracture risk. It includes refined corrections for soft tissue thickness over the lumbar spine, improving accuracy across a wider range of body types. The system also introduces new management tools that allow hospitals and clinical networks to centrally oversee software performance across their DXA scanning infrastructure, promoting standardization and improving efficiency in multi-site operations.

Developed with input from radiology professionals, the software is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing clinical workflows. TBS Osteo Advanced delivers comprehensive reports within seconds, combining bone mineral density (BMD) measurements with advanced clinical factors to support faster, more informed decision-making. The company notes that this approach distinguishes TBS Osteo from other bone assessment technologies, and has already led to broad clinical adoption, particularly in major hospitals.

According to Medimaps CEO and co-founder Professor Dr. Didier Hans, the software was created to meet the practical demands of clinicians. He emphasized that TBS Osteo Advanced enhances diagnostic accuracy while minimizing logistical burdens, allowing clinicians to perform advanced assessments at the time of the DXA scan.

The launch comes at a time when osteoporosis is an increasingly urgent public health issue. The International Osteoporosis Foundation estimates that over 32 million Europeans aged 50 or older are affected by the disease. Projections show that annual osteoporotic fractures across the EU, Switzerland, and the UK will rise from 4.33 million in 2019 to 5.34 million by 2034. Yet despite the availability of effective treatments, only one in five patients who experience an osteoporotic fracture are properly diagnosed or treated.

TBS Osteo Advanced is offered through a subscription-based model that includes access to ongoing updates, feature enhancements, and support services. This model enables healthcare organizations to stay current with the latest innovations in bone health technology. Current users of TBS Osteo can upgrade to the advanced version to take advantage of the new capabilities.

Since its initial release in 2012, TBS Osteo has been backed by over 1,400 peer-reviewed publications and endorsed by more than 30 national and international clinical guidelines. The European launch of the next-generation software, now MDR-cleared, underscores Medimaps’ continued commitment to delivering innovative tools that improve patient outcomes and advance osteoporosis management on a global scale.
