ELKRIDGE, Md.– Onyx Technology, LLC, a NewWave company, is pleased to announce that Aneesh Chopra, President of CareJourney, and former US CTO in the Obama Administration has joined its Advisory Board. Beyond his work for the federal government, Chopra is a thought-leader on the revolutionary potential of the coming-era of health-data interoperability. At CareJourney he has created open data service that helps providers, payers and pharma market leaders make smarter decisions in the move to value-based care. He also co-founded CareJourney’s parent company, Hunch Analytics, a “hatchery” incubating ideas that improve the productivity of health and education markets. Chopra was the inaugural Walter Shorenstein Media and Democracy Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School and is author of “Innovative State: How New Technologies can Transform Government.”
Chopra joins James Weinstein, Sr VP at Microsoft for Health Equity and Innovation; Judy Murphy, Nurse Executive and Health IT Leader; Tony Trenkle, former Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Services for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid; and Patrick Munis, Founder and CEO of NewWave Technology.
“I am very excited to join such an accomplished group of leaders disrupting the basic infrastructure of the health ecosystem. Onyx has already built an important interoperability enabling technology, but as importantly, they have become champions of the broader movement to provide patient data access that will transform healthcare,” said Chopra.
Onyx emerged from work with CMS in establishing the nation’s first nationwide FHIR-based API, Blue Button 2.0. Building on this experience and expertise, Onyx has partnered with Microsoft to build the industry’s leading platform for FHIR-based interoperable exchange. Focused on standards based, interoperable technologies that ensure security, privacy and the delivery of the right information to the right place at the right time, Onyx is an expert in enabling customers to garner the greatest value from their participation in the healthcare eco-system of tomorrow.
In its recent analysis of the North American healthcare data interoperability market, Frost & Sullivan has recognized Onyx and its SAFHIR platform with the 2021 North America Enabling Technology Leadership Award.
“Aneesh brings the unique ability to connect technology with policy, ideas and the needs of the market,” says Susheel Ladwa, CEO of Onyx. “He is a visionary and we welcome him to the team.”
