IWATA, Japan– Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) announced today that it will exhibit the CELL HANDLER™ 2, a cell picking and imaging system, at SLAS2025, marking the product’s first overseas exhibition. SLAS2025, one of the world’s largest conferences and exhibitions on automation technologies in life sciences and drug discovery research, will be held in San Diego, USA, from Monday, January 27, to Wednesday, January 29.

SLAS2025 is an international conference and exhibition that brings together research institutions and companies involved in laboratory automation (automation of research) and screening (discovery of new drug candidates), with a focus on cell research.

At the exhibition, Yamaha Motor will showcase the CELL HANDLER™ 2 in action. Additionally, the Dutch-based biotechnology companies HUB Organoids and MIMETAS will present poster sessions on their joint research and collaborative projects with Yamaha Motor.

A product introduction presentation by one of Yamaha Motor’s development team members is also scheduled for Tuesday, January 28, at 5:30 PM (Pacific Time, local time in San Diego, U.S.).

The CELL HANDLER™ 2 is a next-generation cell handling system that performs high-speed, high-accuracy handling of cells (clusters)* and data acquisition, contributing to the efficiency and refinement of cell research and experiments aimed at new drug development. The new unit has been developed with researchers’ daily use in mind, aiming to streamline various stages of cell research – not only suction and dispensing but also observation, analysis, and other processes involved in handling cells. The CELL HANDLER™ 2 unit is scheduled to be released in March 2025.
*Single cells or clusters of cells, such as spheroids and organoids.
