Cambridge, England— EDX Medical has launched a groundbreaking early detection test for testicular cancer in the UK, offering what the company claims is the most advanced and accurate diagnostic tool yet developed for the disease, which is the most common cancer among young men aged 15 to 40.

The new blood-based test, known as “TC100,” uses a proprietary AI-driven algorithm to analyze a combination of tumor biomarkers, including M371 micro-RNA and three traditional serum markers—AFP, HCG, and LDH. According to EDX Medical, the test delivers up to 99% sensitivity and 96% specificity in initial diagnoses, and 100% sensitivity in detecting cancer recurrence during patient surveillance.

“This is the best test ever made,” said Professor Sir Chris Evans, OBE, founder of EDX Medical. “It offers reassurance and accurate monitoring for young men, including the 50,000 testicular cancer survivors in the UK who need ongoing checks.”

The launch coincides with Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, a time when advocacy groups emphasize the importance of early detection. According to the NHS, around 2,500 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer each year in the UK. Early diagnosis leads to survival rates exceeding 90%.

The TC100 test requires only a simple blood draw, which can be performed by a health professional. The sample is then analyzed at EDX’s lab in Cambridge, with results provided to clinicians to aid diagnosis and treatment decisions.

More than 30 clinical studies have supported the test’s accuracy in diagnosing both seminoma and non-seminoma types of testicular cancer, detecting metastases, and monitoring for recurrence.

Actor Jack James Ryan, a testicular cancer survivor and advocate for the Teenage Cancer Trust, hailed the test as a “game changer.” “There’s still a huge stigma around getting checked,” he said. “A simple blood test that gives you a clear answer can remove that barrier and save lives.”

Dr. Karen Robb of the men’s health charity Movember welcomed the innovation, saying it contributes to the broader effort to promote early detection. “During Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, we’re reminding young men to ‘Know Thy Nuts,’ and this test helps make that easier,” she said.

Michelin-starred chef Andreas Antona, who was diagnosed in 2012, echoed that sentiment. “Early detection will undoubtedly save lives,” he said. “This test can offer peace of mind and reduce the need for more invasive procedures.”

EDX Medical CEO Dr. Mike Hudson added that the TC100 test could also reduce unnecessary scans, biopsies, and chemotherapy, thereby improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

The test will be available through both public and private healthcare providers in the UK within the coming weeks.
