SOMERVILLE, Mass.— Podimetrics, a leader in virtual care solutions for complex diabetes, has announced a strategic partnership with HealthMed, a provider of employee benefits and wellness programs, to help reduce serious diabetes-related complications through early detection and preventative care.
Under the new collaboration, HealthMed will integrate Podimetrics’ SmartMat™ technology into its portfolio of health offerings for hospitals, municipalities, and large employers. The SmartMat™ is a remote monitoring device designed to detect early signs of diabetic foot complications by measuring temperature changes on the soles of the feet—helping to identify risks such as foot ulcers before they progress into more severe and costly outcomes, including amputations.
“This partnership with HealthMed is a strong collaboration, and we are excited to work together to support individuals with complex diabetes who are at the greatest risk for serious complications,” said Dr. Jon Bloom, CEO of Podimetrics. “Our shared mission is rooted in prevention and improving health outcomes, and this partnership is a step forward in achieving that vision.”
HealthMed specializes in providing point-of-care testing and wellness programs tailored to employer groups and healthcare systems. By offering real-time results, HealthMed’s services help shift the focus from reactive treatment to proactive management of chronic diseases, including diabetes.
“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Podimetrics and their innovative solution for managing complex diabetes,” said Tracy Webster, founder of HealthMed. “This collaboration enhances our ability to serve self-insured employers and healthcare systems by improving outcomes and reducing the overall cost of care.”
Together, Podimetrics and HealthMed aim to enhance preventive care measures for individuals living with diabetes, supporting better long-term health and lowering healthcare costs across the populations they serve.
