BOSTON — Health technology company athenahealth has announced the launch of athenaOne® for Community Health Centers, an expanded version of its electronic health record (EHR) platform designed specifically to support the unique operational and clinical needs of community health providers across the United States.

Serving more than 13,000 community health providers, athenahealth has drawn on over 15 years of experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) to tailor this enhanced solution. The updated platform aims to support whole-person care by integrating medical, dental, behavioral health, and women’s health services into a single, unified workflow.

The introduction of athenaOne for Community Health Centers reflects athenahealth’s continued investment in equitable healthcare access, particularly for underserved and vulnerable populations. The platform combines advanced digital capabilities, AI-driven tools, and integrated patient data to help health centers improve outcomes while managing complex regulatory and financial environments.

“Health centers play a vital role in delivering essential care to diverse populations who often face significant access barriers,” said Chad Dodd, Vice President of Product Management at athenahealth. “Our goal is to ensure these centers have the technology and support they need to provide high-quality, personalized care, while staying agile in a changing healthcare landscape.”

The platform includes features such as AI-assisted clinical documentation, revenue cycle optimization tools, and value-based care support. It also offers integrated patient records that consolidate data across care sites and systems, improving coordination and enabling more informed decision-making.

Health centers using the platform have highlighted its potential to transform care delivery. “athenahealth’s approach to whole-patient care – integrating dental and medical workflows within the EHR – will be a game-changer,” said Jesse Suphan, Director of Revenue Cycle at CHP Berkshires, a community health provider in Massachusetts. “Their understanding of our care model gives us the tools we need to support our patients across medical, dental, and behavioral health.”

Barry Niccolai, CEO of Centerville Clinics in Pennsylvania, echoed this sentiment. “We unanimously selected athenahealth for their culture of partnership,” he said. “This move will modernize our capabilities and improve the care experience for our patients and staff alike.”

As part of its continued investment in community health, athenahealth plans to introduce further updates to its platform, including tools for capturing reimbursement-eligible funds, enhanced care management workflows, and improved population health and value-based care reporting.

With community health centers under pressure from rising demand, evolving care models, and uncertain funding, athenaOne for Community Health Centers is designed to help these organizations maintain focus on delivering compassionate, comprehensive care—regardless of a patient’s background or circumstances.
