NEW YORK — Eight Sleep has unveiled Pod 5, the latest generation of its AI-powered sleep technology platform, introducing a host of new features designed to create a fully responsive, personalized sleep environment. The new system integrates temperature regulation, automatic elevation, immersive soundscapes, and the company’s first passive health monitoring tool—Health Check—all without requiring users to wear any device.
Building on the success of its previous models, Pod 5 is engineered to transform any bed into an intelligent system that adjusts dynamically throughout the night. The platform is designed to enhance sleep quality through a combination of real-time biometric sensing and predictive artificial intelligence. According to the company, 92% of users report improved sleep quality after using its technology.
The core features of Pod 5 include a new hydro-powered Blanket for enhanced temperature control, a Base that offers zero-gravity elevation and detects snoring, and built-in surround-sound speakers to deliver relaxation-focused audio tracks, including content developed in collaboration with neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman. The system adjusts automatically based on a sleeper’s unique biometrics and habits, managed by the company’s AI engine, Autopilot, which has been trained on nearly 10 million hours of sleep data.
Eight Sleep has also introduced Health Check, a new feature that monitors cardiovascular and respiratory signals during sleep using sensors embedded in the Pod Cover. The system tracks heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, and sleep stages with clinical-grade accuracy—matching the precision of hospital-grade electrocardiograms—without requiring the user to wear any device. If abnormalities are detected, they are flagged in a morning health report available through the Eight Sleep app.
“Pod 5 is the result of everything we’ve learned about how your environment impacts sleep,” said Matteo Franceschetti, Co-Founder and CEO of Eight Sleep. “We’ve extended our mastery of thermal regulation and added new dimensions like elevation, sound, and Health Check to create a system that adapts in real time to your body’s needs. It’s not just about improving your sleep—it’s about making your bed an active tool for recovery and preventive health.”
The Pod 5 system is fully modular and includes four components: the Cover, which fits over any mattress and delivers temperature regulation; the Hub, which powers the system; the hydro-powered Blanket, which mirrors and enhances the Cover’s temperature settings; and the Base, which offers elevation and sound playback and can be used with most bed frames or freestanding.
Pod 5 is compatible with all standard mattresses and is controlled via the Eight Sleep mobile app, which also provides personalized sleep coaching, data insights, and control over the system’s features. Designed to function autonomously, Pod 5 requires minimal user input and automatically fine-tunes the sleep environment each night for optimal performance.
The release of Pod 5 marks a significant step forward in Eight Sleep’s mission to redefine sleep as a key pillar of preventive health and wellness. By combining AI-driven comfort with non-invasive health tracking, the company aims to make the bed not just a place for rest, but a smart tool for long-term health monitoring.
