Boston, MA — EmPRO Insurance Company has opened its first office in Massachusetts as part of a broader strategy to expand across the Northeast’s competitive medical malpractice insurance market. The new Boston office marks a significant milestone for the Roslyn, New York-based company, which already operates in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
The Boston team will be led by Michael Miller, EmPRO’s newly appointed Vice President of Underwriting, who brings extensive regional experience from his previous role at Coverys. Miller is joined by Vice Presidents Michael Kubik and Brian Kriger—industry veterans with a combined 70-plus years in medical professional liability insurance.
“This opportunity allows me to leverage my experience in the Northeast to contribute to EmPRO’s evolution into a major regional player,” Miller said. He added that EmPRO will remain flexible and responsive to shifting dynamics in the healthcare landscape, particularly as services increasingly cross state lines.
The company emphasized that strong broker and client relationships remain central to its strategy. Kubik, who has led marketing and business development at firms such as MDAdvantage and Gallagher Bassett, echoed that sentiment. “In an industry where relationships are often undervalued, EmPRO puts service and trust first,” he said.
Kriger also brings over two decades of underwriting expertise, including 17 years at MDAdvantage as Vice President of Underwriting & Policyholder Services.
Bruce Shulan, EmPRO’s President and CEO, said the expansion brings immediate credibility to the region. “With Michael’s leadership and the addition of Kubik’s and Kriger’s relationships and market knowledge, we’re entering Boston with strength,” he said.
EmPRO’s strategy for the New England market is anchored in four principles—relationships, responsiveness, flexibility, and service—positioning the company to compete in a crowded field by offering tailored solutions to healthcare providers.
