PALO ALTO, Calif. — Digital health company Glooko has announced the appointment of Dr. Mark Clements as its new Chief Medical and Strategy Officer, expanding his role from fractional Chief Medical Officer, a position he has held since 2016. The move comes as Glooko sharpens its focus on aligning clinical expertise with product development and data-driven innovation in diabetes care.

A respected pediatric endocrinologist and researcher, Dr. Clements brings decades of experience in both clinical practice and digital health. In his new full-time role, he will help integrate Glooko’s clinical vision with its technology roadmap and strategic growth efforts.

“Dr. Clements’ expertise as an endocrinologist, coupled with his deep experience in digital health, data integration, AI, and clinical research, makes him uniquely positioned to guide Glooko’s future,” said Mike Alvarez, CEO of Glooko. “His leadership will ensure we continue to deliver innovation that is clinically grounded and impactful for both patients and healthcare providers.”

Dr. Clements most recently served as a professor of pediatrics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, where he held the Endowed Chair in Endocrinology and Diabetes. He also directed the Pediatric Clinical Research Unit and the Diabetes Research Program. He was Co-Principal Investigator of the TrialNet Clinical Center and served as Data Science Lead for the Type 1 Diabetes Exchange-Quality Improvement (T1DX-QI) initiative.

In a statement, Dr. Clements emphasized the role of digital platforms in transforming diabetes care. “As a long-time advisor and user of Glooko’s platform, I’ve seen its real-world impact on improving outcomes for people with diabetes,” he said. “Moving forward, we’re focused on enabling precision engagement and population health insights—making it easier for providers to connect patients with care, reduce clinician burden, and personalize treatment.”

The appointment comes at a time of accelerated growth for Glooko, which offers digital tools for diabetes and chronic condition management across more than 30 countries. With Dr. Clements in this expanded role, the company aims to further integrate clinical insight into its technology, enhance provider workflows, and strengthen its position in the global digital health market.
