Morristown, N.J.– Global biopharmaceutical company Sanofi has officially opened its new $130 million U.S. headquarters in Morristown, New Jersey, reinforcing its commitment to healthcare innovation and expanding its presence in the United States.
The 260,000-square-foot facility will house nearly 2,000 employees and serves as a modern, collaborative hub designed to accelerate the company’s mission of bringing medicines and vaccines to patients more efficiently. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was expected to feature New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Morristown officials, and Sanofi CEO Paul Hudson.
“This flagship site embodies our belief that great science and great work culture go hand in hand,” said Hudson. “We’ve created a space that fosters collaboration, innovation, and well-being, helping our people do their best work in service of patients.”
The Morristown campus is Sanofi’s latest major U.S. investment, following its expansive R&D center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which opened in 2022. The new headquarters features flexible and digitally enabled workspaces, wellness rooms, and what is now the largest outdoor terrace in New Jersey. It also includes a public restaurant and emphasizes local sourcing, from building materials to artistic touches.
Governor Murphy praised Sanofi’s commitment to the state, calling the new facility “a significant vote of confidence in New Jersey’s innovation economy.”
“This facility will not only support scientific advancement and job growth but will also play an important role in our community thanks to its sustainable design and strong local partnerships,” Murphy said.
The building was constructed with sustainability in mind and is on track for LEED® Gold and WELL Gold certifications. It incorporates energy-saving technologies that reduce energy consumption by 28%, greenhouse gas emissions by 24%, and water usage by 37%. The site also features EV chargers and subsidized public transit access, including Wi-Fi-enabled shuttles.
Sanofi has also extended its community impact efforts in conjunction with the opening. The company announced a donation to Zufall Health Center, a nonprofit providing healthcare services to underserved residents. The funds will support essential equipment upgrades and team-based care services.
Sanofi will also involve its Morristown campus in the Meal Recovery Coalition, a statewide initiative to redistribute surplus food from corporate cafeterias to residents facing food insecurity. The company is a founding member of the coalition, reflecting its broader commitment to reducing healthcare disparities and enhancing community resources.
“This is more than just a workplace,” said Natalie Bickford, Sanofi’s Chief People Officer. “It’s a space designed to connect people, fuel creativity, and serve as a force for good both inside and outside our organization.”
