Silver Hill Hospital to Implement MEDITECH Expanse for Integrated Behavioral Health Care

Canton, Mass.– Silver Hill Hospital, a nationally recognized psychiatric facility based in New Canaan, Connecticut, has signed an agreement to implement MEDITECH Expanse, a cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) system aimed at modernizing care delivery and improving coordination across its inpatient and outpatient settings.

The not-for-profit hospital will adopt MEDITECH’s Expanse platform across its Connecticut facility and its newly rebranded outpatient center in Midtown Manhattan, Silver Hill New York. The move marks a significant shift from the hospital’s previous reliance on a mix of paper records and disparate digital systems to a single, unified EHR.

“MEDITECH’s MaaS [MEDITECH as a Service] subscription model was the ideal solution for our team,” said Melissa Hall, Director of IT at Silver Hill. “It gives us access to a comprehensive and modern EHR system without the complexity and cost of maintaining an on-premises infrastructure.”

Chosen after a thorough RFP process and a competitive evaluation of top EHR providers, MEDITECH Expanse stood out for its ability to offer fully integrated clinical, administrative, and financial tools. Silver Hill’s leadership emphasized the importance of interoperability, particularly given its referral relationships with institutions like Yale New Haven Hospital, which uses Epic. The Expanse platform will enable Silver Hill to participate in Traverse Exchange, MEDITECH’s nationwide interoperability network, allowing seamless data sharing with outside healthcare organizations.

“The ability to exchange information directly with our referral partners will greatly enhance the continuity of care and reduce information loss as patients move between providers,” Hall added.

The implementation will also introduce a new patient portal designed to boost engagement for both patients and their families—a critical feature for Silver Hill, which serves a significant adolescent population. The portal will allow for easier access to health records, facilitate communication, and simplify the intake process by allowing forms and questionnaires to be completed ahead of time.

Silver Hill will further enhance its operations by deploying Expanse’s Business and Clinical Analytics solution. The platform will integrate with the hospital’s existing data warehouse and provide real-time insights to improve clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
