DURHAM, N.C. — Wolfspeed, Inc. (NYSE: WOLF) has named Dr. David Emerson as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, a newly created position aimed at streamlining operations and accelerating the company’s transition to 200-millimeter silicon carbide production.
In his new role, Emerson will oversee Wolfspeed’s global operations, supply chain, and quality divisions. His appointment comes as the company scales its vertically integrated manufacturing platform to meet growing demand in the automotive, industrial, and energy markets.
Emerson, who previously led the company’s LED Products division when it operated as Cree, Inc., brings extensive experience in operational transformation. During his prior tenure, he played a key role in navigating global trade challenges and enhancing the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
“Dave’s return marks a critical moment for Wolfspeed,” said CEO Robert Feurle. “His leadership through past disruptions and his deep understanding of emerging technologies make him well-equipped to drive our next phase of growth. As we continue to build out our 200 mm platform and aim for profitability, Dave’s expertise will be invaluable.”
Emerson expressed enthusiasm about rejoining the company during a pivotal period of expansion. “Having spent a significant portion of my career advancing silicon carbide LED technology, I’m eager to support Wolfspeed’s push into high-performance applications,” he said. “I look forward to accelerating our operational efficiency and ensuring we meet the needs of our global customer base.”
Wolfspeed’s creation of the COO role signals its commitment to operational excellence and product delivery amid its broader strategy to lead the market in silicon carbide technology. Emerson’s leadership is expected to enhance time-to-market performance and support the company’s efforts to scale production to meet rising industry demand.
