Boston, Mass. — Commonwealth Radiology Associates (CRA), a leading private radiology practice in northern New England, has entered a new partnership with Heywood Healthcare to provide comprehensive imaging services across its network of facilities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The collaboration expands CRA’s presence in the state by adding Heywood Hospital, Athol Hospital, and nine affiliated satellite facilities in the north central region of Massachusetts and into New Hampshire. CRA began radiology coverage at Heywood on February 1, 2025, and will officially take over management of the imaging service line on June 1.
Based in the Greater Boston area, CRA’s team of specialty-trained, board-certified radiologists serves 20 locations across Northeastern Massachusetts and Southern Maine. The group offers a wide range of diagnostic and interventional radiology services.
Heywood Healthcare, an independent and community-owned system, turned to CRA in search of a scalable radiology partner capable of meeting the growing demands of modern patient care.

As part of the agreement, CRA will independently operate The Imaging Center at Heywood Hospital and retain senior radiology staff, who will be employed by CRA.
Commonwealth Radiology Associates is the largest private radiology group in Massachusetts, with a staff of 45 board-certified physicians trained at top academic institutions. The practice emphasizes community-focused, multidisciplinary care across a full range of imaging services.
