Ecolab Launches New Purification Resin to Boost Antibody Manufacturing Efficiency

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Ecolab Life Sciences has introduced Purolite™ AP+50, a next-generation chromatography resin designed to improve cost efficiency and operational productivity in monoclonal antibody manufacturing. The resin is being unveiled this week at the 2025 BIO International Convention in Boston.

Engineered with Ecolab’s proprietary Jetted bead manufacturing technology, the AP+50 resin features a 50-micron bead size and offers the highest dynamic binding capacity within the company’s AP resin portfolio. The design ensures durability during antibody capture and allows for consistent lot-to-lot performance and faster delivery times—key benefits for biopharmaceutical companies facing increased demand and cost pressures.

The resin complements Ecolab’s growing Purolite affinity chromatography portfolio, which includes recent releases like Purolite DurA Cycle™ A50, engineered for extended resin lifetimes, and Purolite 70 CH1, designed for the purification of complex antibody fragments. These tools collectively support process intensification and late-stage manufacturing cost reductions—key priorities for Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs) and biopharma firms.

The launch of Purolite AP+50 coincides with the expansion of Ecolab’s global technical support network, including the recent opening of its Bioprocessing Applications Lab in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The new U.S.-based facility complements an existing lab in the UK and enhances Ecolab’s dual-continent capabilities in resin screening and development.
