Energy Infrastructure and Environmental Expert Jamie Durand Joins GZA as Senior Consultant

NORWOOD, Mass. — James “Jamie” Durand has joined GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. as a Senior Consultant, bringing decades of experience in environmental assessment, permitting, and compliance for energy infrastructure and facilities projects.

Durand has worked extensively across the New England region on energy and utility projects, including electric transmission lines, pipelines, substations, submarine cables, and renewable energy developments. His background includes routing and siting plans as well as conducting environmental studies for electric and battery energy storage projects. He has helped clients navigate complex federal and state permitting and licensing processes.

Durand is a Professional Wetland Scientist and holds certifications in wetland ecology, soil science, and wildlife biology. He has also served as an expert witness before energy facility siting boards and public utility commissions in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

Before joining GZA, Durand managed multidisciplinary projects for public and private sector clients. He is a Certified Wetland Scientist in New Hampshire, a Registered Soil Scientist, and an Associate Certified Wildlife Biologist. He holds a B.S. in Natural Resources Science from the University of Rhode Island.
