TAMPA, Fla. — National construction firm Suffolk has named Cary Shippert as Vice President of Healthcare, strengthening its leadership team in Florida as it looks to expand its footprint in one of the company’s key growth sectors.
With three decades of experience in healthcare construction, Shippert will oversee statewide operations, guide project teams, and build strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing Suffolk’s presence across Florida. His appointment reflects Suffolk’s continued investment in the healthcare sector, where the company has delivered projects for institutions like Tampa General Hospital, BayCare, and Sebastian River Healthcare.
“Cary brings the leadership and experience necessary to drive operational performance and business growth throughout the state,” said Pete Tuffo, President of Suffolk’s Gulf Coast Region and National Gaming. “His strong industry relationships and knowledge of complex healthcare environments will be invaluable as we continue to expand our reach and deliver high-quality, innovative projects for our clients.”
Shippert joins Suffolk after spending 12 years at a major healthcare-focused construction firm, where he led large-scale initiatives known for consistent delivery, stakeholder collaboration, and high performance in safety and quality. He is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Suffolk’s statewide growth strategy and cementing its reputation as a builder of choice in healthcare.
“I’m honored to join Suffolk and support its continued growth in Florida and beyond,” Shippert said. “Suffolk’s culture of innovation, investment in technology, and forward-thinking approach to construction align perfectly with my passion for driving results and building strong client relationships. I look forward to working with our talented teams across the state to deliver predictable outcomes and elevate the healthcare construction experience.”
Shippert’s hiring comes as Suffolk builds on more than 25 years of experience in Florida, managing a broad portfolio of projects that span residential, hospitality, healthcare, and infrastructure. The company has been recognized as a top healthcare contractor by Building Design + Construction and General Contractor Magazine.
