BOSTON – knownwell, a primary care and metabolic health company focused on weight-inclusive treatment, has expanded its presence in Massachusetts with the opening of a new clinic in Woburn. The move marks the company’s second clinic in the Greater Boston area, following its flagship location in Needham that opened in 2023.
The expansion comes amid growing demand for comprehensive obesity and metabolic care across the state. According to state health data, more than half of Massachusetts adults are affected by overweight or obesity, with roughly one in four adults in Woburn living with obesity.
“Boston has always held a special place in our story – it is where our mission began, and where we proved that weight-inclusive care can change lives,” said Brooke Boyarsky Pratt, CEO and co-founder of knownwell. “This expansion isn’t just about growth; it’s about meeting an urgent need in a community that has inspired us from day one.”
The Woburn opening follows a year of rapid growth for the company, which has launched seven new clinics across the country, including one in Dallas and six in Chicago. It also recently expanded its virtual metabolic care services to patients in all 50 states.
Chief Medical Officer and co-founder Dr. Angela Fitch said the Greater Boston expansion reflects knownwell’s commitment to treating obesity as a chronic disease requiring integrated care. “By increasing access to treatment, we’re not just helping individuals improve their health but taking meaningful steps toward reducing obesity rates across the country,” she said.
The company’s approach combines clinical treatment with nutritional and behavioral support. That model is expected to be in high demand as interest in GLP-1 medications continues to surge, with costs creating new barriers for patients seeking long-term care.
As part of the Woburn launch, knownwell has named Dr. Giovanna Leddy as Market Medical Director for Massachusetts. Leddy, who also serves as president of the New England Obesity Society and a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School, will oversee both the Woburn and Needham clinics.
With the addition of the new location, knownwell aims to deepen its roots in Massachusetts while continuing its national push to expand access to whole-person, weight-inclusive health care.
