BOSTON — Pure Lithium Corporation announced that Professor Donald R. Sadoway will step down from his roles as Chief Scientific Officer and Board Director to focus full time on the Sadoway Labs Foundation, a Boston-based nonprofit he founded to develop breakthrough electrochemical solutions for deep decarbonization.
Sadoway, a renowned materials chemistry professor, played a central role in advancing Pure Lithium’s next-generation lithium metal battery technology. The company is now preparing to shift from research and development to commercial production.
“We are thrilled for Don as he embarks on this next chapter of radical innovation,” said Emilie Bodoin, founder and CEO of Pure Lithium. “We are deeply grateful for his contributions as we prepare to enter the commercialization phase of our battery technology.”
Sadoway said he was “immensely proud” of the company’s scientific and technical progress. “The battery platform and underlying technologies are now poised for the leap to commercial production,” he said. “I look forward to focusing my energy on advancing extreme electrochemistry through the Sadoway Labs Foundation.”
Former Massachusetts Governor William F. Weld, a company director, praised Sadoway’s role in developing the technology and expressed confidence in Bodoin’s leadership as the company moves forward.
Pure Lithium, which carried out most of its development work in Boston, announced in July that it will relocate to Chicago to begin prototyping and scaling up production.
