SAN JOSE, Calif.– Altera Corporation, the world’s largest independent provider of pure-play FPGA solutions, announced Tuesday the appointment of Sandeep Nayyar as chief financial officer.

Nayyar brings more than 30 years of financial leadership experience across the semiconductor, storage, and life sciences industries. He most recently served as CFO of Power Integrations, a role he held since 2010, where he guided the company through sustained growth and oversaw finance, human resources, and corporate development.

Previously, Nayyar held senior finance positions at Applied Biosystems and Quantum Corporation, where he played key roles in expanding market opportunities and leading sale transactions to Life Technologies, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, and to Maxtor, later acquired by Seagate.

“Sandeep is a highly accomplished and strategic financial leader who brings deep domain expertise across technology sectors,” said Raghib Hussain, chief executive officer of Altera. “His proven ability to scale global organizations, allocate capital effectively, and drive value-creating outcomes will be instrumental as we execute our growth strategy and extend our leadership across cloud, edge, and embedded markets.”

Nayyar said he is eager to help shape the company’s next phase. “I’m honored to join Altera at such a transformative time,” he said. “As the largest independent pure-play FPGA provider, Altera is uniquely positioned to deliver leadership solutions and drive innovation across a broad range of industries. I look forward to working with Raghib and the leadership team to build on that momentum and create long-term value for our customers and stakeholders.”

Nayyar holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Delhi. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California and a Chartered Accountant from India. He also attended the Directors College at Stanford University and is a member of Financial Executives International, which recognized him as CFO of the Year for small public companies in 2017.
