MINNEAPOLIS– Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII), a provider of secure connectivity solutions, has launched the Digi Connect EZ 4 WS, a serial server designed for medical environments and compliant with IEC 60601 3rd edition safety standards.
Built for patient care settings, the Digi Connect EZ 4 WS offers encrypted, real-time connectivity for critical medical devices and is backed by Digi’s decades of healthcare technology experience. “We’ve been working with the largest names in healthcare for a few decades,” said Brian Kirkendall, vice president and general manager of Infrastructure Management at Digi. “We know Healthcare IT leaders expect turnkey solutions. Key features of the new system include enterprise-grade encryption, Digi RealPort® serial-to-IP connectivity, four RS-232 serial ports, dual Ethernet and Wi-Fi, remote management via Digi Remote Manager® (cloud or on-premises), and built-in Python automation. The server also comes with one year of Digi LifeCycle Assurance.
The solution is designed to help hospitals securely connect patient-room equipment to electronic medical record (EMR) systems, integrate legacy serial devices with modern networks, and meet strict cybersecurity standards. Digi emphasized that the product reduces downtime, protects patient data, and supports compliance straight out of the box.
