LYNN, Mass.– Element Care, a leading Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and managed care provider for Senior Care Options (SCO), announced today that Anthony Zizza, M.D., has been appointed Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Zizza, a Harvard-trained specialist in geriatric medicine, brings more than a decade of leadership experience improving clinical outcomes for seniors across New England.
Dr. Zizza most recently served as Chief of Longitudinal Care, Geriatrics, and Interdisciplinary Care at Optum at Home. He previously led interdisciplinary teams at the PACE Program at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School and held leadership roles at Compassus Hospice and Landmark Health, where he advanced value-based care models in geriatrics. His extensive expertise in senior care will guide Element Care’s interdisciplinary teams in delivering coordinated, high-quality care for adults age 55 and older.
“We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Zizza as our new CMO,” said Doug Thompson, Chief Executive Officer at Element Care. “His distinguished background and passion for senior care will help us build on our mission of supporting seniors in living meaningful, independent lives with comprehensive, coordinated healthcare.”
For more than 30 years, Element Care has provided integrated healthcare to at-risk seniors. Today, the organization serves more than 1,100 PACE participants and 1,850 SCO members across Essex County, Merrimack Valley, and Greater Boston. PACE is a federally funded program that delivers preventive, primary, acute, and long-term care services to older adults.
“I’m honored to join a team so committed to improving the lives of older adults,” said Dr. Zizza. “Throughout my career, I’ve focused on advancing geriatric medicine through direct patient care and leadership in senior care organizations. At Element Care, I look forward to building on that work and leading the organization into its next chapter.”
A native of Lynn and raised in Revere, Dr. Zizza earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, trained in internal medicine at Tufts Medical Center, and completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at Harvard Medical School. He now resides in Saugus with his wife and three daughters.
Element Care also recognized the contributions of Dr. Eric Reines, who served as CMO for more than 17 years. “We are deeply grateful to Dr. Reines for his dedication and leadership, which helped shape Element Care’s growth and commitment to person-centered, high-quality care,” said Thompson. Dr. Reines will continue supporting the organization as a provider, ensuring participants benefit directly from his expertise and compassion.
