BOSTON– Health Tech Without Borders (HTWB), Inc., an international nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to digital health tools, has released the first report from its Global Health Survey Series, highlighting how clinicians worldwide use and rate clinical decision-support platforms.
The 2025 survey, conducted by M3 Global Research with support from Digital Health New York and the City University of New York School of Public Health Foundation, polled more than 1,000 clinicians internationally. The study found that UpToDate and MDCalc are the most widely used resources, accessed monthly by roughly three-quarters of respondents.
Emerging generative-AI platforms are also gaining traction, with the potential to reshape clinical workflows. “Clinicians trust what their peers value most. As large language models begin to harness full-length journal articles, apply robust safeguards, and embed the highest levels of domain expertise, they will not just supplement, but truly transform clinical practice,” said Dr. Bob Arnot, HTWB’s Chief Innovation Officer.
The survey revealed that adoption rates strongly correlate with user satisfaction. Both UpToDate and MDCalc received positive Net Promoter Scores (NPS), reinforcing their popularity among frontline providers.
The cross-sectional study included more than 1,000 non-surgical, English-speaking clinicians in the United States and abroad. Eighty-five percent of respondents were physicians, while 15 percent were physician assistants or nurse practitioners. All participants reported at least 30 hours of patient interaction per week. NPS was calculated using Bain Consulting’s standard 0–10 scale.
