BOSTON– Wysa announced today that it has acquired Kins, a U.S.-based physical therapy services company, as part of its strategy to accelerate the adoption of clinically proven AI in healthcare. By integrating physical therapy services into its operations, Wysa aims to close the longstanding gap between innovation and widespread adoption, a delay often estimated at 17 years.
The acquisition marks a reversal of the traditional model in which health systems slowly adopt new technologies. Instead, Wysa is adopting healthcare services to make its AI tools directly available through established care pathways. This approach is designed to improve access, speed innovation, and better address both physical and mental health needs while maintaining the central role of clinicians.
“There is no physical health without mental health,” said Jo Aggarwal, Chief Executive Officer of Wysa. “Bringing Wysa and Kins together is a focused step toward closing access gaps across mind and body without adding complexity for patients or clinicians.”
“Rather than waiting for healthcare services to adopt AI at scale, we’re adopting healthcare services to get our clinically proven technology to patients rapidly, safely, and with clinicians leading care,” said Ramakant Vempati, President of Wysa.
“Kins exists to empower licensed clinicians to deliver effective care in the real world,” added Dan Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Kins. “Together with Wysa, we will move faster on the problems that patients and providers face every day.”
The integrated model has already demonstrated promising results. In workers’ compensation programs, Travelers insurance reported that physically injured employees using Wysa returned to work one-third faster than those without AI support, underscoring the connection between mental and physical recovery.
Wysa’s AI has been deployed across national health systems and major insurers, including the UK’s NHS Talking Therapies, Singapore’s Ministry of Health, and Vitality insurance. The company’s evidence base includes a robust body of peer-reviewed research and recognition by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which granted Breakthrough Device designation for Wysa’s AI-led conversational CBT tool for chronic pain and symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Earlier this year, Wysa acquired April Health, which integrates AI-enabled behavioral health services into primary care. The addition of Kins strengthens Wysa’s hybrid care model that blends AI with human-led healthcare services, setting a new standard for addressing complex patient needs at scale.
