CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Mispro announced plans to open its newest contract vivarium facility in Kendall Square, Cambridge, in December 2025. Situated in the heart of one of the world’s leading life sciences hubs, the new site will be Mispro’s ninth facility in Greater Boston and third in Kendall Square, further establishing the company as the region’s leading contract vivarium provider.

“Cambridge remains the epicenter of biotech innovation, and Kendall Square is its focal point,” said Yohan Tessier, President and Chief Operating Officer of Mispro. “While the broader life sciences market remains cautious, demand for Mispro’s business model continues to grow. This new facility reflects our confidence in the market and our commitment to advancing science through access to high-quality in vivo research environments.”

Located within walking distance of major research institutions and global pharmaceutical companies, the facility will provide fully equipped, AAALAC-accredited vivarium space and professional support services designed to help biotech firms accelerate preclinical studies.

In today’s cautious funding climate, access to a contract vivarium provides startups and established companies alike with a strategic alternative to both outsourcing research to CROs and building costly in-house facilities. For early-stage firms, Mispro’s model allows scientists to remain hands-on with their research while conserving capital and expediting progress. For mid-sized biotechs, the approach offers a cost-effective and efficient path to conducting studies without the significant expense and time investment of developing and maintaining dedicated vivarium infrastructure.

“Investors are increasingly focused on companies that demonstrate tangible results early,” Tessier said. “The contract vivarium model allows biotechs to achieve that — maintaining control of their science while advancing discovery on a predictable, scalable budget.”

Mispro’s metro Boston network now supports more than 100 biotech companies conducting preclinical research. Its vivarium facilities have become a key component of modern life sciences campuses, viewed as vital infrastructure by developers seeking to attract and retain high-value tenants.

“Massachusetts sets the standard for global life sciences innovation,” said Kendalle Burlin O’Connell, CEO and President of MassBio. “At a time when supporting innovation is critical and unlocking efficiencies essential, Mispro’s continued investment in Cambridge and beyond strengthens the ecosystem by providing infrastructure that benefits both emerging startups and established biotechs working to deliver new therapies to patients.”

The new Kendall Square location follows Mispro’s recent expansion into San Carlos, California, extending its national network and reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in enabling in vivo research across the country.
