WALTHAM, Mass. — Wolters Kluwer Health has introduced Ovid Synthesis Expert AI, a new suite of artificial intelligence-powered features designed to help nursing, research, and quality improvement leaders accelerate evidence-based practice and healthcare improvement projects. Available as an optional add-on to the Ovid Synthesis platform, the new capabilities aim to streamline time-intensive project tasks and enhance the quality, speed, and impact of improvement initiatives.
“Healthcare systems are under immense pressure to deliver measurable improvements with fewer resources, and that requires smarter, faster ways of working,” said Rafael Sidi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Health Research at Wolters Kluwer Health. “Ovid Synthesis Expert AI is designed to eliminate the friction points that slow down improvement initiatives—like manual literature reviews, inconsistent mentorship, and fragmented workflows. By embedding Expert AI directly into the process, we’re enabling teams to accelerate progress, scale their impact, and uphold the highest standards of clinical and academic excellence.”
Ovid Synthesis Expert AI is designed to reduce the manual workload associated with literature review, feedback cycles, and research dissemination—allowing clinicians and educators to devote more time to patient-centered care and strategic priorities. The new tool provides AI-generated summaries with linked sources for each element of a critical appraisal form, helping teams assess literature quickly while maintaining transparency and quality. It also delivers real-time guidance for refining PICO(T) questions, improving project clarity, and reducing mentorship demands. In addition, the system automatically converts project results into several draft formats, including abstracts, manuscripts, and newsletters for rapid dissemination.
“Artificial intelligence, through tools like Ovid Synthesis Expert AI, accelerates evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and research by streamlining the search, critiquing the evidence, and translating hours of work into minutes of insight—giving nurses more time where it matters most: at the bedside,” said Una T. Hopkins, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, NE-BC, FACCC, Director of Nursing Research at Montefiore Einstein Medical Center and President of the Association of Cancer Care Centers.
The Ovid Synthesis platform supports healthcare organizations in improving workflow efficiency, clinician satisfaction, and patient outcomes through evidence-based decision-making and collaboration. Developed in partnership with clinicians and medical librarians, Ovid Synthesis Expert AI reflects direct feedback from the field to ensure academic rigor and usability.
Ovid Synthesis Expert AI is powered by Wolters Kluwer Expert AI, a platform built on deep domain expertise and more than a decade of AI experience. The technology enables faster insights and more informed decision-making based on verified, trusted content, reinforcing Wolters Kluwer’s commitment to advancing evidence-based care and healthcare quality improvement.
