DEERFIELD, Ill. — Baxter International Inc. announced the U.S. launch of its new Dynamo Series stretcher, a connected and scalable smart stretcher designed to address common challenges faced by care teams in emergency departments, perioperative settings, and patient transport environments.

The Dynamo Series was unveiled at the 2026 J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference and expands Baxter’s portfolio of smart beds, surfaces, and connected care solutions. The company said the stretcher is intended to reduce the physical and cognitive burden on clinicians while improving patient safety, comfort, and overall care experience.

“At Baxter, we are committed to driving focused innovation that empowers clinicians to deliver exceptional patient care in high-pressure environments,” said James Teaff, president of Care & Connectivity Solutions at Baxter. “The stretcher is a vital bridge between care teams and patients. We designed the Dynamo Series to strengthen these connections by addressing some of the toughest challenges care teams face, including reducing the need for patient transfers and simplifying patient positioning across a range of procedures.”

Baxter said the Dynamo Series is designed to allow more procedures to be performed directly in the stretcher, helping minimize unnecessary patient transfers that can increase injury risk and strain for care teams. Integrated stirrups provide alternative positioning options, enabling obstetric, pelvic, and other examinations to be performed without moving patients to specialty stretchers. The stretcher includes a fully electric suite with powered drive, height, head, and knee adjustments, and offers optional wireless connectivity to deliver select safety and patient data to electronic medical records for remote monitoring.

The company also emphasized fall prevention as a key design focus. Baxter cited estimates that between 700,000 and 1 million people experience falls in U.S. hospitals each year. The Dynamo Series incorporates technologies intended to help care teams identify risk earlier and respond more quickly, including the SafeView+ system, which projects visual cues indicating safety status, and a three-mode bed exit alarm system with real-time notifications and auto-rearm functionality. Optional connectivity allows integration with Baxter’s Voalte Nurse Call system and other platforms to support timely alerts.

In addition, the Dynamo Series is designed to improve patient safety and comfort through one of the widest care surfaces currently available in the stretcher category, according to the company. Baxter said the wider surface can support safer transfers and accommodate a broader range of patient sizes. Features such as one-touch positioning controls, the ability to convert to a true chair position, and an integrated USB port for device charging are intended to enhance patient autonomy and comfort during care.

Baxter said the Dynamo Series is now available for order in the United States, with broader geographic expansion planned later in the year. The company expects the stretcher to be available for clinical use during the first half of 2026.
