BOSTON, Mass. — The Food Allergy Science Initiative has received a $10,000 donation from the Be Like Timmy Foundation following the foundation’s Valentine’s Day community event held Feb. 14 at Love Farms Cape Cod.
The donation grew out of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about food allergies while honoring the memory of Timmy Howard. Proceeds from the event will support research aimed at accelerating the development of new treatments for people living with food allergies.
The Be Like Timmy Foundation hosts community events throughout the year to promote education, collaboration, and access to life-saving treatments for individuals with food allergies. In addition to food allergy advocacy, the foundation also supports organ donation awareness, reflecting Howard’s legacy as an organ donor.
Carlos Bosques, CEO of the Food Allergy Science Initiative, said the partnership reflects the power of community-driven support for scientific research.
“We are deeply moved by the Be Like Timmy Foundation’s commitment to funding research that will ultimately save lives,” Bosques said. “Their community event brought together families, researchers, and advocates united in the belief that we can create a safer future for the millions affected by food allergies. This generous gift will help us advance promising treatments from the lab to patients.”
During the Valentine’s Day event, Bosques shared updates on recent developments in food allergy research and emphasized the need for sustained investment in therapeutic innovation.
The donation comes as the Food Allergy Science Initiative approaches its 10-year anniversary in 2026, a milestone that organizers say underscores a decade of progress driven by collaboration between researchers, advocates, and community partners.
“The support we received at our Valentine’s event was overwhelming,” the Be Like Timmy Foundation said in a statement. “Partnering with the Food Allergy Science Initiative allows us to channel that community energy into real scientific progress. We’re proud to support research that could change the lives of so many families living with food allergies.”
