CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — eGenesis, a biotechnology company developing engineered organs for human transplantation, has been named to Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2026, ranking No. 1 in the biotech category and No. 34 overall on the publication’s list of the world’s 50 most innovative companies.

The annual ranking highlights companies driving change across industries and regions. This year, Fast Company recognized 720 organizations across 59 sectors, alongside its flagship top 50 list.

“Being named the No. 1 biotech company by Fast Company is a powerful validation of our mission to solve one of medicine’s most urgent challenges, the global organ shortage,” said Mike Curtis, Ph.D., CEO of eGenesis. “We are at an inflection point, with FDA clearance to begin clinical trials for our kidney and liver programs, leveraging the growing body of clinical evidence demonstrating the potential of engineered porcine organs to transform patients’ lives. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the patients who continue to inspire our work every day.”

eGenesis is advancing xenotransplantation using its genome engineering platform to develop porcine organs designed for long-term function in human patients. The company recently received FDA clearance to initiate a combined Phase 1/2/3 clinical trial of EGEN-2784, an engineered porcine kidney, in patients with end-stage kidney disease.

The program builds on clinical data showing up to nine months of dialysis independence in patients receiving a genetically engineered porcine-derived kidney, highlighting the potential durability of the approach. In addition, the FDA has approved a clinical trial of EGEN-5784, a porcine liver designed to provide perfusion support for patients with liver failure, being developed in collaboration with Terumo and OrganOx.

Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list is one of the publication’s signature editorial efforts, recognizing organizations that are shaping the future through creativity and measurable impact. Editors and writers evaluate thousands of submissions globally to identify companies setting new standards in their industries.

“Our list of the Most Innovative Companies is about spotlighting organizations that don’t just adapt to change—they drive it,” said Brendan Vaughan, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “The companies we honor this year are redefining what leadership looks like in 2026, pairing bold ideas with measurable impact and turning breakthrough innovation into real-world value. They are setting the pace for their industries and offering a blueprint for what sustained innovation can achieve.”
