HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.– Covid Clinic, a nationwide network of COVID-19 testing sites operated by dedicated, caring individuals and healthcare workers, today announced that since May 2020 and following the 2021 holiday season into the early Q1 2022 Omicron surge, it has administered more than 6.8 million tests to more than 2.8 million individuals. Covid Clinic and its growing team managed an average 800% increase in testing demand across the U.S., with highs of 900% in many locations at the height of the Omicron variant surge. Both travel and in-person gatherings during the most recent holiday season were also major variables in the spike.
As people waited in line at testing locations across the country, Covid Clinic rose to meet the challenge by expanding to five more states since October 2021, including Kentucky, North Carolina, Idaho, Louisiana, and Missouri, while converting sites from drive-thru to walk-up on the fly to improve traffic flow and alleviate congestion.
“Although many states are easing their COVID-19 protocols, including mask mandates, testing remains paramount as Americans learn to live with the virus and return to everyday activities, in-person events and classrooms en masse,” said Dr. Matt Abinante, CEO of Covid Clinic. “We will continue to monitor variants, surges and case rates and respond accordingly. Although cases and hospitalizations are trending down in the U.S., we’re seeing spikes in Asia and Europe. It’s important to remain vigilant.”
According to the CDC, since the onset of the pandemic the Coronavirus has claimed more than 950,000 lives in the United States.
Since the emergence of the pandemic in the United States, Covid Clinic has administered a wide variety of tests including Rapid Antibody, Rapid Antigen, and Rapid PCR, Expedited PCR via 200+ public and private locations across 23 states nationwide, including 60 schools across the country.
