WALTHAM, Mass.— Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced the 5-liter DynaDrive Single-Use Bioreactor (S.U.B.), a new bench-scale solution aimed at accelerating bioprocess development and helping bring therapies to market faster. The latest addition to Thermo Fisher’s DynaDrive portfolio, the bioreactor is designed to offer seamless scalability from 1 to 5,000 liters, enabling cost-effective and efficient transitions from lab-scale to commercial production.
“The introduction of the 5L DynaDrive marks a significant advancement in our commitment to helping customers maximize productivity and accelerate time to market,” said Ray Mercier, president of Thermo Fisher’s single-use technologies division. “With 25 years of single-use technology expertise, we’re delivering trusted, scalable innovations that simplify bioprocessing.”
Targeted at pharmaceutical companies, CDMOs, and small biotech firms, the 5L DynaDrive offers a compact, benchtop solution compatible with Thermo Fisher’s HyPerforma™ G3Lab Controller. According to the company, it delivers a 27% productivity increase compared to traditional glass bioreactors, while maintaining consistent design and software across scales.
In addition to performance gains, the bioreactor features biobased Aegis™ film and BioTitan Retention Devices to support sustainability and minimize product loss. Thermo Fisher says the system’s consistent film and reactor design from bench to commercial scale help streamline development and reduce complexity.
The 5L DynaDrive is the first of its kind in its category, aimed at bridging early-stage development with large-scale production while supporting environmental and operational efficiency goals.
