Boston, MA – Suffolk, one of the nation’s largest construction enterprises, recently convened industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, contractors, designers, and public officials at its Boston headquarters for the Suffolk Climate Tech Forum. The event focused on accelerating the adoption of climate technologies and sustainable practices within the construction sector.
Co-hosted by Suffolk’s Sustainability Group and Suffolk Technologies, the company’s venture capital arm that backs early-stage startups in the built environment, the forum aimed to address climate-related challenges in construction, including reducing emissions and integrating renewable energy, innovative materials, and data-driven sustainability tools.
“The construction industry stands at a pivotal point in combating climate change, with nearly 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions linked to the construction and operation of buildings,” said Steven Burke, senior director of sustainability at Suffolk. “Our Climate Tech Forum underscores our commitment to implementing and sharing sustainable solutions that can transform the entire industry.”
Nick Dhimitri, Suffolk’s executive vice president, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration. “Driving meaningful climate action requires engagement across the entire construction ecosystem. By bringing together thought leaders and innovators, we’re building a roadmap toward a more sustainable future.”
The event spotlighted three core focus areas: circularity, industrial decarbonization, and software solutions. Highlights included startup pitches, real-world case studies, and interactive breakout sessions. Among the featured technologies were Sublime Systems’ low-carbon cement alternatives, Pozzotive’s method for converting post-consumer glass into concrete additives, and Tangible’s AI-powered tools for optimizing material choices in building design.
Through investments in technology, data analytics, and AI-driven processes, Suffolk continues to push for scalable and standardized approaches to sustainability that help clients meet environmental goals without compromising timelines or budgets. The Climate Tech Forum reinforced Suffolk’s broader mission to deliver predictable, sustainable construction outcomes that benefit clients and communities alike.
