CAMBRIDGE, Mass.– Mission BioCapital (MBC) announced today it is expanding its European footprint through a new office and incubator collaboration with the BioInnovation Institute (BII) in Copenhagen, Denmark. The move marks the launch of MBC’s first European office and a significant extension of its Platinum Program to the Nordic life sciences ecosystem.
BII, a nonprofit foundation that supports early-stage life sciences innovation focused on human and planetary health, will now serve as a hub for select Platinum Program startups. This year’s Platinum Program awardees will have access to lab space at BII, along with pre-seed funding, expert mentorship, and discovery services provided by MBC. The program is designed to accelerate high-potential bioscience startups by helping them move from concept to company launch quickly and efficiently.
Robert Blazej, PhD, Partner at Mission BioCapital, will relocate to Copenhagen to lead the new office and strengthen the firm’s presence and engagement across Europe.
“We’re excited to announce our new incubator collaboration and the opening of our European office at BioInnovation Institute in Copenhagen,” said Blazej. “These strategic initiatives will broaden the reach and impact of our Platinum Program and help advance early-stage innovators by giving them the funding, guidance, and resources they need to succeed.”
The partnership aims to help address common barriers that early-stage life sciences companies face—such as limited access to lab facilities, business expertise, and capital—by embedding MBC’s support into one of Europe’s most promising biotech ecosystems.
“We’re pleased to collaborate with Mission BioCapital to support the launch and growth of new life sciences ventures across the Nordic region,” said Trine Bartholdy, Chief Business Officer at BioInnovation Institute. “Many promising scientific discoveries never reach the public due to gaps in infrastructure and funding. Through this partnership, we’re confident we can help more startups translate groundbreaking research into solutions that improve human health and protect the planet.”
The expansion reflects MBC’s commitment to supporting bioscience entrepreneurship globally and its growing interest in the Nordic region’s rapidly evolving life sciences landscape.
