Chicago, IL — Tempus AI, Inc. has introduced Notetaker, a new artificial intelligence-powered clinical assistant designed to help psychiatrists streamline the creation of patient progress notes. The tool, now available through Tempus Hub, captures and transcribes patient sessions in real-time and automatically generates clinical documentation that can be saved directly to electronic health records.
The launch of Notetaker expands Tempus’ mental health platform, which already includes precision medicine tools like the nP pharmacogenomic test and the PRO™ patient-reported outcome solution. By automating note-taking and integrating pharmacogenomic insights, the platform aims to ease the administrative burden on clinicians while supporting more personalized treatment decisions.
According to the company, Notetaker records and processes psychiatric sessions with a high degree of accuracy, including capturing specialized terminology and medication details. After each session, the assistant generates a clinical note that summarizes key information such as symptoms, patient progress, and proposed treatment actions. Clinicians can review and edit these notes using a built-in Magic Edit feature to ensure formatting and content meet their needs.
The assistant also flags care gaps by incorporating pharmacogenomic insights, helping providers make more informed decisions about medication options during treatment planning.
“We are excited to enhance our mental health platform with Notetaker, a tool built by clinicians, for clinicians, and thoughtfully designed to meet the unique demands of psychiatric care,” said Dr. Muneer Ali, Senior Director of Medical Affairs, Neurology and Psychiatry at Tempus. “Notetaker eases the burden of clinical documentation, helping providers reclaim their time and streamline their workflow so they can focus on what matters most: their patients.”
Notetaker supports more than 30 languages, including English, Spanish, and Chinese, and can detect language switching during sessions without requiring prior configuration. It is adaptable for use in telehealth, in-person consultations, and dictation, with settings designed to optimize audio capture in different environments. The platform adheres to HIPAA standards, with providers responsible for obtaining patient consent prior to recording sessions.
With Notetaker, Tempus continues to push forward in its mission to use AI and precision medicine to improve care delivery and outcomes in mental health.
