AUSTIN, Texas — Iodine Software has launched a next-generation version of its pre-bill solution, AwarePre-Bill, aimed at helping health systems identify and capture missed revenue before claims are submitted. The updated platform uses artificial intelligence to conduct targeted, retrospective reviews that improve coding accuracy and documentation, ensuring hospitals are reimbursed appropriately for the care they deliver.

The launch comes at a critical time for hospitals facing intensifying financial pressures. Denial rates have climbed 16% over the past six years, and nearly 40% of hospitals are operating in the red. While a majority of appealed denials are eventually overturned, many health systems lack the staffing and resources to pursue them, leaving substantial revenue unrecovered. Iodine’s AI-driven approach is designed to bridge that gap.

“With Iodine’s pre-bill technology, we’ve seen measurable gains in both revenue and care quality,” said Dr. Christopher Riccard, Vice President of Hospital Medicine and Clinical Documentation Integrity at AdventHealth. “The ability to prioritize the right cases, not just more of them, has transformed how we work and strengthened our financial performance.”

Iodine’s software analyzes patient records to identify those with the highest financial impact, flagging missing documentation and recommending code changes to validate or improve DRG and ICD-10 classifications. It also detects quality events such as hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) or patient safety indicators (PSIs) that may require documentation updates. Every recommendation is accompanied by clinical context, allowing health systems to take swift and confident action.

In addition to the software, Iodine is introducing tech-enabled services to help hospitals address staffing shortages and close revenue gaps more efficiently. According to CEO William Chan, the company’s goal is to become a long-term partner in supporting health systems’ financial resilience.

“Hospitals are under enormous pressure from rising denial rates and shrinking margins,” Chan said. “Our enhanced pre-bill solution, paired with flexible pricing and service options, provides the tools healthcare leaders need to protect their bottom line and sustain high-quality care.”

Hundreds of health systems already rely on Iodine’s platform to improve revenue cycle performance, with clients reporting a 63% reduction in review times and millions in additional revenue captured annually. The company’s latest offering underscores a broader shift in healthcare, where data-driven tools are becoming essential to maintaining both clinical and financial viability.
