BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Swisslog Healthcare has introduced i-Rolly, a new add-on to its AutoPack™ Automated Oral Solid Packager, designed to improve medication organization and streamline pharmacy workflows in hospitals.
The i-Rolly is an automatic pouch rolling system that processes up to 80 medication packs per minute, allowing for both manual and automatic winding of pouch strings. It includes detachable bobbins in two sizes (400mm and 500mm), enabling hospital staff to store medications more efficiently by patient or drug type.
“The i-Rolly significantly enhances our AutoPack system’s capabilities,” said Connie Vigil, Business Analyst at Swisslog Healthcare. “It streamlines the final stages of medication packaging, allowing hospital pharmacies to manage their inventory more effectively and respond to patient needs more quickly.”
The system is compact and integrates easily with existing AutoPack units, requiring little additional space. Operators can adjust winding speed and tension through a user-friendly interface, helping ensure optimal storage and reducing the likelihood of packaging errors.
The AutoPack system itself supports up to 480 medications in one unit and is designed to handle half tablets, irregularly shaped pills, and less commonly used medications using specialized trays and AutoCanisters™.
Together, AutoPack and i-Rolly aim to reduce downtime, minimize manual handling, and improve overall pharmacy productivity—key considerations as hospitals seek more efficient medication management solutions.
