WALTHAM, Mass.– GelSight, a pioneer in tactile intelligence technology, has introduced Modulus, a compact and modular surface inspection device designed to capture high-precision measurements in areas that were previously inaccessible.

Built with a design inspired by single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras, Modulus features swappable lenses and cameras, allowing users to adapt the tool to a variety of inspection needs. The new system aims to streamline workflows in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and precision manufacturing, where surface inspections often require part disassembly, replication, or other time-consuming and costly methods.

“Many of our customers had been pushing for a smaller form factor with even more flexibility to reach new areas and surfaces to alleviate supply chain difficulties and costs,” said Youssef Benmokhtar, CEO of GelSight. “With Modulus’ flexible and scalable design, customers can now access intricate geometries with the same precision and performance they’ve always received from our technology. This new platform will not only meet their metrology needs now but help future-proof their operations.”

The Modulus platform is powered by GelSight Mobile 4.2, the company’s latest software update, which enables high-resolution, repeatable surface analysis and one-click reporting. The system supports inspection of materials inside bores, tubes, and complex geometries, providing quantitative surface data that replaces subjective visual inspections.

Modulus also features enhanced gel materials for greater durability and smoother user experience. According to the company, the system delivers significant return on investment by reducing part scrap, avoiding unnecessary rework, and enabling efficient, non-destructive inspection of previously hard-to-measure surfaces.

The launch extends GelSight’s mission to make it possible to measure Any Material. Anywhere™, offering field teams and engineers a highly portable tool for micron-level inspection in even the most constrained environments.
