DURHAM, N.C. — HemoSonics LLC, a medical device company specializing in acute bleeding management, has been awarded the 2025 Supplier Horizon Award from Premier, Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company. HemoSonics was recognized for its advanced viscoelastic testing technology, the Quantra Hemostasis System, which provides comprehensive coagulation analysis in under 15 minutes, helping clinicians make faster, more informed decisions during critical surgeries.
One of just 13 companies to receive the honor this year, HemoSonics was selected by Premier member committees for its exceptional customer service, clinical impact, and commitment to reducing healthcare costs. The award highlights suppliers with fewer than three years of tenure as Premier-contracted vendors who have already demonstrated significant value and engagement.
The Quantra Hemostasis System includes the Quantra Hemostasis Analyzer along with QPlus and QStat Cartridges. Powered by proprietary SEER Sonorheometry (Sonic Estimation of Elasticity via Resonance), the technology analyzes whole blood samples to deliver fast, actionable insights during cardiovascular, orthopedic, trauma, and liver transplant surgeries. It is FDA-cleared for use in all these settings and has been shown to reduce blood product usage and related costs. A 2023 Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery study reported that Quantra reduced blood component use by 10% to more than 90%, while cutting the cost of blood products by 41%.
“Our mission is to ensure that our clinician partners receive accurate test results quickly during critical, complex surgeries that allow them to make timely patient-centered clinical decisions,” said Bob Roda, President and CEO of HemoSonics. “By doing so, patients can receive the care that they need at the moment that they need it. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our customers and partners are supported, as we partner with hospitals to deliver better patient outcomes, all while lowering the cost of care. We are humbled and proud to receive the Supplier Horizon Award from Premier, Inc.”
Premier, Inc. noted the impact HemoSonics has made in a short time. “HemoSonics supports Premier members by offering products and services that help improve costs, quality and operations – and deliver overall value,” said Bruce Radcliff, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain at Premier. “We’re honored to recognize HemoSonics as a Supplier Horizon Award recipient.”
The Quantra System has earned multiple accolades, including TIME’s 2024 Best Inventions, Fast Company’s 2024 Most Innovative Companies (Medtech), the 2024 Edison Awards, the 2024 Deloitte Fast 500 list of North America’s fastest-growing companies, and the 2025 Triangle Business Journal Life Sciences Award for Best Medical Device Company. The latest recognition from Premier underscores its growing role in enhancing surgical care and hospital efficiency nationwide.
