MADISON, Wis. — Promega Corporation has announced it will set company-wide greenhouse gas reduction goals in alignment with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking a formal step toward lowering emissions across its global operations.

The biotechnology manufacturer, headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, said the commitment is part of a broader strategy rooted in scientific rigor and long-term environmental responsibility. Over the next two years, Promega will undertake a cross-departmental effort to define and submit its emissions targets to SBTi, which requires companies to align their climate goals with the latest scientific guidance to limit global warming.

According to Promega, teams from sustainability, manufacturing, engineering, and facilities will collaborate to ensure the targets are both ambitious and operationally realistic. The company emphasized its structured approach to target-setting and noted that the process will be grounded in the company’s global footprint.

“We’ve taken a careful approach to ensure our targets are supported by a clear path to achievement,” said Corey Meek, Promega’s Corporate Responsibility Program Manager. “We approach this effort with the same long-view perspective that informs our decision-making and direction across the organization.”

Promega’s sustainability practices include its Kornberg Center, a research and development facility in Madison, which was designed to use 60% less energy than a comparable building constructed to standard code. The company said this reflects its ongoing efforts to integrate environmental stewardship into operations and infrastructure.
