DEERFIELD, Ill.– Baxter International Inc. (NYSE: BAX), a leading global medtech company, has become the first manufacturer to earn a Gold Level Resiliency Badge from the Healthcare Industry Resilience Collaborative (HIRC) across the categories of IV Solutions, Nutrition Solutions and Premix Drugs. The recognition underscores Baxter’s commitment to strengthening supply chain reliability and building a more resilient healthcare system.
“The HIRC Resiliency Badge is a testament to our team’s relentless focus on helping ensure patients and customers can count on Baxter, no matter the challenge,” said Jim Borzi, executive vice president and chief supply chain officer at Baxter. “From continuous investments in manufacturing to transformative digital tools, resiliency is built into everything we do. We’re honored to receive this significant industry award that helps validate our ongoing commitment to building a stronger, more transparent supply chain and reaffirms our Mission to Save and Sustain Lives.”
HIRC, a U.S. non-profit healthcare supply chain trade association founded in 2019, brings together providers, suppliers and industry partners to increase transparency and reliability. Its Resiliency Badge program is the first industry-wide initiative to recognize suppliers that demonstrate high standards of risk management, continuity planning and operational reliability.
Baxter’s recognition followed a comprehensive review of its supply chain practices, including demand planning, logistics, supplier partnerships and cybersecurity. The company was cited for innovations such as the Baxter Control Tower, which provides real-time visibility into its global distribution network; its strengthened cybersecurity frameworks to protect critical operations; improved risk forecasting tools that enhance business continuity; and structured approaches to inventory oversight and backorder management. Baxter was also recognized for its culture of continuous improvement, supported by site-level initiatives and investments in manufacturing that drive efficiency and collaboration with suppliers.
“The HIRC Resiliency Badge is not about immunity to disruptions, but rather a supplier’s level of operational and risk management maturity to better predict, prevent and recover from supply disruptions,” said Jesse Schafer, executive director of HIRC. “Through this achievement, in which the company is evaluated on business continuity and operational competence, Baxter demonstrates its commitment and capability in resiliency.”
The Gold Resiliency Badge builds on Baxter’s previous recognitions, including the Transparency Badge awarded by HIRC in both 2023 and 2024. Together, these awards highlight Baxter’s ability to maintain the availability of critical medical supplies and reinforce the company’s role as an industry leader in resilient healthcare delivery.
