PHOENIX — Drive Health, a Phoenix-based digital health company focused on advancing patient-centered care, announced the appointment of Dr. Matthew G. Crowson, M.D., M.P.A., M.A.Sc., M.B.I., as Chief Medical Officer. A dual board-certified physician and informaticist, Dr. Crowson is widely regarded as one of the leading figures in medical artificial intelligence. In his new role, he will lead Drive Health’s clinical strategy, including AI governance and workflow validation, as the company accelerates the safe and evidence-based integration of AI into frontline healthcare.

Dr. Crowson brings a distinguished record of bridging cutting-edge AI innovation with clinical practice. Educated at Dartmouth College, Harvard Medical School, the University of Toronto, and the Royal Military College of Canada, his background spans medicine, biomedical informatics, applied science, and public administration. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is an internationally recognized speaker and patented inventor in medical AI. Known for his ability to merge technical, business, and clinical perspectives, he has built a reputation as a “triple-threat” leader who can design algorithms, build business cases, and execute clinical implementation.

“Dr. Crowson’s appointment marks a pivotal milestone for Drive Health,” said Kevin Longoria, co-founder and CEO of Drive Health. “We believe that safe, agentic AI will only gain traction in healthcare when clinicians trust it, and there is no one better suited to earn that trust than Dr. Crowson. His rare combination of surgical training, deep machine-learning expertise, and product leadership will help us translate artificial intelligence into solutions that truly improve the lives of nurses, physicians, and patients.”

Before joining Drive Health, Dr. Crowson served as Director of AI and Generative AI Product Management at Wolters Kluwer Health, where he led development of enterprise-grade AI solutions for healthcare clients. He also held leadership roles at Deloitte as a Healthcare AI Leader, guiding major health systems in designing and operationalizing AI platforms. Alongside his industry roles, he serves as an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and practices as a fellowship-trained otolaryngology-head and neck surgeon at Mass Eye and Ear. He also advises early-stage health-tech companies and serves on advisory boards focused on AI governance, product validation, and evidence-generation frameworks.

“I have spent my career building AI systems that solve real problems for clinicians and patients,” said Dr. Crowson. “Drive Health understands that technology must fit into existing workflows and be held to the same standards of evidence and safety as any medical innovation. I’m humbled to join an organization that shares my commitment to pragmatic, human-centered AI, and I look forward to working alongside Drive Health’s exceptional team to advance the responsible adoption of agentic AI across healthcare.”

Dr. Crowson will collaborate closely with Drive Health Chief Nursing Officer Dr. Leeza Constantoulakis, Ph.D., R.N., to ensure that practicing clinicians directly inform how AI improves care delivery and health equity. His appointment underscores Drive Health’s ongoing commitment to clinical collaboration as it scales Avery, the company’s agentic AI co-pilot platform.

“Dr. Crowson is a thought-leader with the practical experience needed to really make an impact,” said Dr. Constantoulakis. “His deep understanding of both patient care and product design has already elevated our work. I’m thrilled to welcome him to our leadership team and to collaborate on new programs that ensure our approach to re-imagining clinical workflows is held to the highest professional and clinical standards.”
