CALEDONIA, Mich. — Aspen Surgical Products has acquired Ruhof Healthcare, adding enzymatic detergents, instrument reprocessing, and cleaning verification technologies to its portfolio as the company expands its presence across operating rooms, sterile processing departments, and endoscopy settings.

Aspen Surgical said the acquisition brings together two companies focused on infection prevention and clinical performance, broadening its offerings in areas where surgical instruments, endoscopes, and reusable medical devices are prepared for patient care. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1976 and headquartered in Mineola, New York, Ruhof Healthcare develops decontamination and reprocessing solutions used in hospitals and ambulatory care settings. Its product lines include Endozime enzymatic detergents, the ScopeValet range of single-use endoscopy consumables, and the CleanRead ATP-based contamination monitoring system. Ruhof generates about $50 million in annual revenue and serves customers throughout the United States and in more than 30 countries.

“This acquisition strengthens Aspen Surgical’s position in environments where surgical instruments, endoscopes, and reusable devices are processed and prepared for patient care,” said Jørgen B. Hansen, chief executive officer of Aspen Surgical. “Ruhof Healthcare brings market-leading expertise in enzymatic detergents, decontamination, and cleaning verification.”

With the addition of Ruhof, Aspen Surgical expands into several categories tied to infection prevention and workflow efficiency, including enzymatic detergents, automated and manual reprocessing solutions, digital cleaning verification tools, single-use endoscopy products, and instrument refurbishment technologies.

Ruhof’s portfolio will be incorporated into Aspen Surgical’s SPD360 Performance Solutions platform and complements the company’s existing brands, including Symmetry, Bookwalter, and Precept. Aspen Surgical said the combined portfolio is intended to support hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers across the full lifecycle of instrument preparation, from cleaning and decontamination through sterilization and point-of-care use.

The acquisition also expands Aspen Surgical’s manufacturing and innovation capabilities and strengthens its footprint in North America, while supporting growth in international markets, including Latin America and Europe.

Aspen Surgical said all Ruhof operations, brands, and product lines are included in the transaction. Integration efforts are underway, and the company said it does not expect near-term disruption for customers, suppliers, or employees.
