NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Johnson & Johnson, with support from the Johnson & Johnson Foundation, announced that it has donated $100 million worth of MedTech products since 2020 to help expand access to specialized healthcare services worldwide, including cardiovascular, surgical, and vision care. The company also said it plans to contribute an additional $20 million in 2026 to support programs and impact investments aimed at strengthening health systems and empowering health workers in their communities.
The donations and planned funding are part of J&J CareCommunity, a social impact platform that brings together the efforts of Johnson & Johnson and the J&J Foundation to support health workers and improve access to quality care. Through partnerships with global and local organizations, the initiative combines product donations with training, tools, and long-term support for frontline care teams.
“With these efforts, we’re accelerating the work of J&J CareCommunity, partnering with global and local organizations to deliver new tools, training and sustained support that frontline care teams need to expand access to specialized care,” said Tim Schmid, Executive Vice President and Worldwide Chairman of MedTech at Johnson & Johnson. “As a leader in medical technology, we know that delivering specialized care doesn’t just help people. It also fuels healthier communities, stronger economies and lasting change.”
Johnson & Johnson noted that gaps in access to specialized care are often driven by shortages of skilled health workers, limited surgical capacity, and a lack of technology and infrastructure, particularly in under-resourced communities. The company said it is addressing these challenges by providing medical tools and technologies that help health workers deliver services such as restoring circulation, healing wounds, and improving vision.
In addition to product donations, Johnson & Johnson and the J&J Foundation are supporting training and education programs for healthcare professionals involved in specialized care. The company said these efforts reach more than 300,000 healthcare workers each year, helping to expand the safe and effective use of surgical and medical technologies.

Through J&J CareCommunity, Johnson & Johnson and the J&J Foundation are working with a range of partners to scale impact globally. These collaborations include efforts with the American Heart Association to expand access to CPR training for employees and communities, including interactive hands-only CPR training installations. The company is also collaborating with the Global Surgery Foundation to support surgical teams and strengthen surgical systems in low- and middle-income countries, including support for global learning hubs and funding mechanisms.
Additional partnerships focus on eye health and preventable blindness, including work with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness to strengthen health systems and elevate eye health on national agendas. Johnson & Johnson is also continuing longstanding product donation programs that equip health workers with essential surgical tools through collaborations with organizations such as MAP, SEE International, and Operation Smile. The company said its Sight For Kids program, launched in partnership with Lions Clubs International Foundation, has reached more than 55 million students worldwide and is now expanding training for community health workers to reach additional communities.
Johnson & Johnson said these combined efforts build on decades of work by the company and the J&J Foundation to support health workers and improve access to care, with a focus on sustainable, locally driven solutions that strengthen health systems over the long term.
