WILMINGTON, Mass. — Ametros has launched Member Momentum, a year-long campaign aimed at honoring and supporting injured workers by sharing their stories of resilience and strength after settlement.
The campaign focuses on individuals who continue to move forward despite life-altering workplace injuries, highlighting what the company describes as “an unstoppable strength gained through progress.” The initiative draws attention to the challenges injured workers face after settlement and the perseverance many demonstrate in rebuilding their lives.
For more than 15 years, while much of the workers’ compensation industry emphasized the value and efficiency of pre-settlement products and services, Ametros focused on managing injured workers’ medical funds after settlement. Each year, the company supports more than 35,000 injured workers in this capacity. Many have suffered complex or catastrophic injuries that prevent them from returning to work and make it difficult to find normalcy after injury.
“Too often, once a workplace injury claim is settled, an injured worker is on their own to navigate ongoing medical needs while simultaneously managing settlement funds,” said Ametros President Andrea Mills. “For many injured workers, adjusting to their new normal is emotionally exhausting, draining, and even crushing at times.”
She continued, “That’s why we launched the Member Momentum campaign. The word momentum means ‘an unstoppable strength gained through progress.’ This is an opportunity to highlight injured workers who, despite having suffered devastating workplace injuries, exemplify momentum in their lives long after settlement.”
As part of the initiative, Ametros will release a Member Momentum video story each quarter featuring a member who reflects resilience and forward momentum.
The campaign begins with Derek Demun’s story. At 21, Demun’s life changed instantly after a workplace injury resulted in paraplegia. Previously an avid athlete, outdoor enthusiast, and adventure seeker, he shares his post-settlement journey through despair and loss, and eventually toward hope, resilience, and peace.
Ametros said it plays a supporting role in members’ long-term success by working with partners to simplify healthcare coordination, streamline medical payments, and reduce stress and anxiety.
“We are honored to be a part of our members’ lives at a time when they need our support the most,” said Mills. “By being empathic and putting ourselves in their shoes, we help our members thrive post-settlement, and that is incredibly fulfilling.”
She added, “When we thought about the joy these stories bring to our lives, we realized they needed to be told beyond the walls of Ametros. These powerful stories are an inspiration to other injured workers in the same position and to anyone involved in the workers’ compensation industry.”
