WALTHAM, Mass. — Mobile Heartbeat is expanding the reach of its Banyan clinical communication platform through integration with Microsoft Teams, allowing healthcare staff across departments to communicate in real time using their preferred systems.
The company said the integration connects clinical teams using Banyan with administrative, IT, facilities and support staff who rely on Microsoft Teams, helping create a unified communication environment across health systems.
“Banyan’s integration with Microsoft Teams has been transformative for our operations. When a nurse needs technical support or has an equipment issue, they can reach IT instantly without switching platforms or workflows,” said Jake VanRoekel, Sr. System Administrator, Client & Collaboration Services at Mary Greeley Medical Center. “We’re already looking forward to expanding this interoperability to include HR and other departments, which will further strengthen communication across our organization.”
Health systems often operate with separate communication tools for clinical and non-clinical teams. Care teams depend on specialized clinical communication platforms that support patient workflows and directory services, while other departments collaborate using enterprise platforms such as Teams.
Mobile Heartbeat said its integration bridges that divide, enabling seamless messaging across the organization without requiring staff to toggle between systems.
The Banyan platform also integrates with electronic health records, nurse call systems, scheduling tools, medical devices and other healthcare IT systems, the company said.
“Health systems can see hundreds of IT support interactions per day,” said Dr. Annabaker Garber, RN, PhD, Chief Clinical Officer, Mobile Heartbeat. “Even when the problem is simple, like access or password resets, those issues are urgent in clinical workflows and require a quick response.”
Garber said Banyan’s open architecture allows healthcare organizations to connect clinical and operational workflows while maintaining security and compliance standards.
As hospitals and health systems expand and grow more complex, interoperability has become a central focus for operational efficiency, industry leaders say.
“Healthcare organizations are looking for solutions that work seamlessly with their existing technology investments while meeting the unique demands of clinical environments,” said Randy Nale, Director, US Healthcare Solutions at Microsoft. “Mobile Heartbeat’s Banyan platform integration with Microsoft Teams demonstrates how interoperability can break down communication silos and create more connected, efficient healthcare enterprises.”
