Boston, Mass. — Mispro has opened its latest contract vivarium facility at Southline Boston in Dorchester, expanding its footprint in one of the country’s leading biotech hubs. The new site marks the company’s eighth location in the Boston area and is part of a broader strategy to provide flexible, scalable preclinical research space for early- and growth-stage life sciences companies.
The new facility is situated within Southline’s 700,000-square-foot life sciences campus and aims to serve biotech startups seeking to conduct in vivo research without the infrastructure burdens of building their own lab animal facilities. Mispro was the first to introduce the contract vivarium (CV) model to the Boston metro area and continues to support dozens of local companies.
“With each new facility, we’re investing in more than just space—we’re offering a more agile model for preclinical research,” said Yohan Tessier, Mispro’s President and COO. “This approach keeps scientific control in the hands of the biotech teams while removing many of the logistical and financial hurdles.”
Southline is also home to Portal Innovations, a venture firm and incubator for early-stage life sciences companies. Having Mispro on-site provides Portal tenants with direct access to in vivo capabilities—something increasingly valuable as startups look to accelerate development timelines and protect intellectual property in a competitive funding landscape.
According to Mispro, three out of four biotech companies involved in mergers and acquisitions this year have conducted research at its facilities. The company currently supports 45 Boston-area biotech programs.
“This expansion reflects our belief that enabling fast, efficient science is critical to biotech success,” said Tessier. “Our goal is to meet that need wherever innovation is happening.”
